It is believed that in this forest vedas were recited by Lord Shiva from his Damroo. In this manner this land is specially related to Lord Shiva that is why Shri Ram had worshipped Lord Shiva here before his departure for Lanka. A very old temple of Lord Shiva can still be seen here.
