As per the folklore it is believed that Shri Ram had come under the impact of Saturn planet for seven and half years (Shani ki Sadesati) at this place. Hence, he worshipped Lord Shani at this place. People from far and near come here for the worship of Lord Shani on the banks of river Godavari even today.
